A: Our rates vary depending on type of service requested. Some factors to consider are: the number of cleaning professionals needed (most appointments just need one), the size of your space, and the type of service requested. We understand just how important superior maintenance is to our customers, so we strive to offer the best services possible to fit your budget. We also offer discounted rates to clients who book with us on a recurring schedule, as well as cleaning packages for easy booking.
Q: How do I schedule a cleaning appointment?
A: We offer several ways to set up an appointment. Our online scheduling tool lets you book appointments quickly and easily. Q: What does a Regular Cleaning include?
A: Our Regular Cleaning service includes a thorough cleaning of all surfaces, floors, countertops, baseboards, mirrors, furniture, and windows (for interior cleanings). Unlike other cleaning services, our cleaning professionals will always clean corners and underneath beds and other furniture. We will move objects on countertops and shelves in order to clean underneath them. Our Regular Cleaning also includes kitchen and bathroom disinfection. We also provide our signature amenities of apartment aromatherapy and complete bedroom turndown service.
Q: What is a Deep Cleaning?
A: Our Deep Cleaning service includes everything provided in a Regular Cleaning (see above) and much more. This cleaning is very thorough and detailed, and it requires at least two cleaning professionals. We clean all kitchen appliances inside and out, including your refrigerator and oven. We clean inside your kitchen and bathroom cabinets and organize the contents with your approval. We perform a full dusting and cleaning of all bookcases and racks, windows (inside), lighting fixtures and ceiling fans, moldings, and any other surface that might need cleaning.
Q: I need a cleaning service that’s not listed on your website. Do you offer bespoke cleaning services?
A: Our clients sometimes have special circumstances or unique projects that need professional attention. If you don’t see the service on our website – please contact us. We are happy to work with you to find a solution that fits your needs. We do not lock you in with contracts or commitments. We simply book you for your time in advance and stick to your requested schedule. Your time is valuable, so let us help you save it for more important things in your life!
Q: My apartment is really small (Studio). Can I book a shorter appointment?
A: Our experience has been that three hours is the shortest amount of time in which we can complete a Green Cleaning for even the smallest apartments. Because our cleanings are so thorough, our cleaning professionals need the time to clean, scrub, and dust all the corners of your space. First-time appointments also take the longest to complete because our cleaning professionals want to familiarize themselves with your space and your needs. When you book your appointment with a Shield Cleaning representative, simply let us know about the size of your space and we can give you an estimate of how many hours we think are needed to clean.
Q: Do you do laundry, and is it an extra charge?
A: We are happy to do laundry for you at no additional cost, as long as the facilities are located inside your building. Please be aware that laundry services usually add additional time to appointments, depending on how many loads need to be run. We ask that clients to provide their own detergent and money for the machines. Please be sure to inform our cleaning professional of any special garment-care instructions. When you schedule your cleaning, simply let the Shield Cleaning representative know you wish to include laundry in the appointment.
Q: What type of products do you use for your Green Cleanings?
A: We do a lot of product research before making any purchasing decisions; your health and the safety of your clients and visitors are important to us. We purchase only products that are non-toxic and made from naturally derived sources. We insist on corporate and ecological responsibility, and we purchase only from companies who demonstrate this same commitment. We are also currently developing our own private-label cleaning product line and will soon introduce Shield Cleaning products to the broader market.
Q: How easy is it to get an appointment for a Cleaning?
A: Our office staff makes every effort to accommodate our clients’ busy schedules. Appointment availability varies depending on the time of year and the amount of advance notice. We tend to get the most appointment requests for Mondays and Tuesdays, and spring and fall are the most popular times for cleaning services. We advise our clients to schedule an appointment at least 48 hours in advance. For Emergency Cleaning services, we are available 24/7 and will assist you as quickly as possible.
Q: Can I have the same cleaning professional if I use your service on a regular basis?
A: We always strive to keep your Shield Cleaning experience consistent. Many of our clients become attached to specific cleaning professionals after just one appointment! If you book a cleaning appointment with us on a recurring basis (weekly, biweekly, or monthly), we will schedule the same cleaning professional for each appointment. If your regularly scheduled cleaning professional is unable to make your appointment, we will substitute another cleaning professional for the appointment with your permission.
Q: Are you insured against damages? What about objects of sentimental value?
A: At Shield Cleaning, we treat your space as we would our own. However, in the event that an object is accidentally damaged, please notify our office within 24 hours of your appointment, and we will take action to provide compensation. We understand that our clients have emotionally valuable items that may not be replaceable, which is why we take extra care in your space to be respectful of all your belongings. We are licensed, bonded and fully insured.
Q: What type of training does your staff receive?
A: All cleaning professionals must have considerable cleaning experience prior to employment with our company. We hire employees after a lengthy interview and orientation process. Each cleaning professional must complete several weeks of product and service training with our Quality Control Supervisors.
Q: Do I have to be home when someone cleans?
A: Most of our clients are not on site during their cleaning appointments. Some clients let us in before they leave for work. Some clients leave keys with their front desk staff or have keys on file at our office. We have some clients who feel more comfortable being home for their cleanings. Whatever your preference, we are happy to make your experience pleasant and convenient.
Q: Will your cleaning professionals have a problem with my pets?
A: Many of our clients have pets, and we are happy to clean around them. If your pets tend to get anxious around strangers, it may be a good idea to keep them in an enclosed area until they become accustomed to your cleaning professional. Our cleaning professionals are pet friendly!
Q: What is your payment policy?
A: We require all clients to keep a valid credit card on file in our office. We process all payments one day prior to cleaning appointments.
Q: Should I tip my cleaning professional?
A: While tipping is not required, it is customary for excellent service.
Q: Do you offer discounts or promotions?
A: We offer a referral discount off your next cleaning when you refer a new client to our services. If you refer four new clients to us, you will receive a 3-hour complimentary cleaning!
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: While we are sensitive to last-minute schedule changes, we require 48-hours notice for all cancellations. Due to the high demand for our services, we charge a $35 cancellation fee for all appointments canceled after this 48-hour window. Because we process all payments the day before the appointments, we charge the full amount of the appointment if you cancel with less than 24-hours notice. If a Shield Cleaning professional arrives at a scheduled cleaning appointment and is unable to gain access to your home, we are unable refund the charge for the appointment.
